Ed’s lament

Twelve’ve seen earthrise o’er regolith
Looking down upon our lonely souls
to relive the things they’ve seen
With eyes wild and spirits so old

Lunar days like coal mines at night
Miners teeth shine from the heavens
Ed Mitchell spent nine hours in Fra Mauro
There weren’t any condos there then

It took all we could muster
to send those boys to space
Much time and effort spent by those
Figuring we’d made a grave mistake

that changed once they’d laid eyes
Upon our green blue pearl
Floating here amongst the stars
A nirvana I have with you

I’d like to say humanity
Made a 180 since that day
it takes a lot of smaller things
To make us live that way

Don’t stop wishing on the moon
don’t ever lose hope for change
hold loved ones close, fight the fight
The goals within our range
